State payroll returns from your Xero Payroll data

Xero Payroll handles STP and super, but it doesn't prepare payroll tax by state, portable long service leave returns or workers' comp wage declarations. Today that means exporting reports and rebuilding the figures in a spreadsheet. Quarterday will connect to Xero (read-only) and prepare those figures for you to check and lodge.

Free payroll tax estimator (2026–27)

Enter annual taxable wages paid in each state. This is a rough estimate for a single employer that isn't part of a group, for the full 2026–27 year, with total Australian wages of $10 million or less. It doesn't cover grouping, regional rates, exemptions, rebates or fringe benefits. South Australia and the Northern Territory aren't included yet, because we're still confirming their 2026–27 figures. If you pay wages there, enter them under "Other states" so the other states' thresholds are apportioned correctly.

How the estimate works

What it will prepare

Three returns Xero Payroll leaves to you

Payroll tax by state

monthly and annual worksheets, with wages split by state and the threshold apportioned.

Portable long service leave returns

per-worker wages and service for your scheme, in the scheme's upload format where it has one, and as a keying worksheet where it doesn't.

Workers' comp wage declarations

an annual wages worksheet that follows your state scheme's definition of wages.

Each scheme counts different pay items. For example, NSW community services leaves out travel and meal allowances, while Victorian contract cleaning includes most allowances. You map your Xero pay items once and we apply each scheme's rules.

Quarterday prepares worksheets from your data using published rules. You review and lodge them yourself. It isn't tax or legal advice.

We'll email you when Quarterday is ready to test. We're also looking for a few bookkeepers to try it early with real client data, free during testing.

We use your email only to tell you about Quarterday, and you can ask us to delete it at any time. See the privacy note.

The waitlist form collects your email address and the answers you give. We use them only to contact you about Quarterday and to decide what to build first. We don't sell or share them. They're stored with our website and form host, Netlify, a US company, so they're held outside Australia (in the US). Netlify checks each submission for spam using Akismet, a third-party spam filter. When Quarterday connects to Xero, it will read payroll data only when you ask for a return, use it to build the file, and then discard it. It keeps only the connection key, which you can revoke at any time from Xero.
